The Australian Sexual Offence Statistical (ASOS) collection monitors the extent and nature of sexual offending in Australia from 2021-22 onwards. The collection brings together data on sexual offences, alleged offenders and victims. It covers offences perpetrated against children and adults, including penetrative and non-penetrative sexual offences, handling of unlawful sexual material offences, and offences related to enabling unlawful sexual conduct.
The National Homicide Monitoring Program (NHMP) has collected and analysed information on all homicide incidents, victims and offenders in Australia since 1990. The establishment of the NHMP was recommended by the National Committee on Violence and has been made possible by the cooperation and continued support of all Australian police services and the National Coronial Information System.
The National Deaths in Custody Program (NDICP) monitors the extent and nature of Indigenous and non-Indigenous deaths occurring in prison, police custody and youth detention from 1980 onwards. The program was established following Recommendation 41 from the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody for ongoing monitoring of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander deaths in custody.
The Australian Cybercrime Survey is Australia’s largest annual survey dedicated to measuring cybercrime in the community. Each year, a minimum of 10,000 respondents are recruited from an establish online panel to answer questions about cybercrime victimisation, online safety strategies, help-seeking behaviour and financial losses and other harms. Results from the survey are published in our annual Cybercrime in Australia report.
